62 Plus Program

Mrs. Lottie Scott, Director - (912)344-2935

Adults 62 years or older and residents of Georgia for at least 1 year may attend college classes at no tuition cost on a space available basis.

The first stop for information on the 62 Plus Program will be Adult Academic Support Services, located in Victor Hall 204 and 205 where the program is coordinated. Please visit or call us at 912-344-2935 and request a 62 Plus Information Packet.

Before registration into courses, the process of admission into the university must be completed through the Office of Admissions which requires the following:

  • Complete the [Application for Admission] and submit the following: Certificate of Immunization, $20.00 application fee, proof of age, identification, and proof of Georgia residency to the Office of Admissions, first floor of Victor Hall, Armstrong Atlantic State University, 11935 Abercorn Street, Savannah, GA 31419.

  • Arrange to have an official high-school transcript (or GED scores) sent to the Office of Admissions at Armstrong.

  • If you have previously attended college, arrange to also have official college transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions at Armstrong from each institution that you attended.

You will be notified in writing by the Office of Admissions as soon as your admissions process is completed.

If you are required to take the College Placement Exam, COMPASS Exam, you will be informed of the date, time, and location of the exam. This exam will determine if you need to take refresher courses in Reading, English, and/or Mathematics. However, regardless of your score on the exam, you may (with the permission of the Registrar) take up to 12 semester hours before you will be required to take these refresher courses. These placement exams may be exempted for 62+ students choosing to audit their classes instead of taking them for credit.

After completing the admission process you may register for classes every semester in the Adult Academic Support Services (Room 204 in Victor Hall). PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES WHEN REGISTERING:

  • You may choose either to audit a class or take it for college credit. In either case, you may participate fully in the class.

  • You may sign up for any college class as long as there is space available and you have met the prerequisites for that class (as identified in the Armstrong Catalog). Please note that certain classes are not permitted to be audited, such as Learning Support classes and others. College classes do not include classes scheduled by the Department of Continuing Education.

  • You will not have to pay tuition or activities/athletics fees when you register to take a class. You will be responsible only for the cost of books, special course fees, parking space, or equipment costs for the classes you have selected.

  • You can only be registered through us, Adult Academic Support Services, Room 204 of Victor Hall, in order to attend free of tuition costs.

If you have questions about the 62 Plus Program, please visit Mrs. Lottie Scott in Adult Academic Support Services (Rooms 204-205 in Victor Hall) or call 912-344-2935.
